Traude Gavin, a UK-based independent scholar on the ritual textiles of Ibanic groups in Borneo, will be delivering a FREE talk at the Asian Civilisations Museum. For readers interested in Indonesian textiles especially batik, Traude will be exploring the ancestor figures and the Tree of Life.
She was guest curator for an Iban textiles exhibition at the Fowler Museum of Cultural History, Los Angeles. She has conducted recent fieldwork in Kalimantan, Indonesia, supported by a grant from the Association of South East Asian Studies in the UK. This lecture is free and no registration is required.
