This Sunday 10th of May (Mother's Day), the Perwira Indonesian Society of Victoria is proudly hosting the Indonesian Satay Festival.
This annual community event promotes Indonesian culture and culinary art in Melbourne and is supported by Garuda Indonesia and the Victorian Multicultural Commission.
The event will run from 11am till 8pm in Box Hill Town Hall and throughout the day families can enjoy a wide range of festivities.
Come along and trawl through a range of stalls. Highlights include the 'Indonesian Batik Centre Collection' - according to Wikipedia, 'Batik is a technique of manual wax-resist dyeing applied to whole cloth, or cloth made using this technique'. There will also be a selection of books on Indonesian culture and attractions.
Eventgoers can also enjoy an exciting line-up of live entertainment throughout the day, including traditional and contemporary music and dance performances and 'The Indonesian Fashion Show'.
A variety of Indonesian snacks and dishes will be available for lunch and dinner. To accompany your meal, drinks will also be offered.
Eventgoers can also go into the draw to win a return ticket to Bali from Melbourne!
There will be much to see and do at this vibrant cultural event this Sunday - it makes for a great Mother's Day outing too!
