Bacon and eggs with a side serving of wildlife
Great news for those who enjoy their breakfast out on weekends. The Indigi Cafe at IndigiScapes Environmental Education Centre, smack in the centre of the Redlands, is now open from 8:30am on both Saturdays and Sundays serving breakfast until 11am.
Overlooking magnificent gums filled with Butcher Birds, Magpies, Kookaburras, and the occasional Koala, breakfast on the verandah is just delightful. Just don't accidentally step on a Green Tree Frog. There is also enclosed seating but then you'd miss out on any guests that may drop in.
The breakfast menu is not extensive, though it provides for all dietary requirements. The Bloke enjoyed his Standard Breakfast and the Breakfast Muffin was also a success with its brushing of bush spices
With a collective age close to 200 years, it was the first time any of us had been encouraged to follow up with the IndigiCake for dessert. Well, were we ever so pleased to take up that suggestion!
We shared the dessert, cut into three and served on individual plates, which was a blend of apples, dates and coconut, served warm with cream. Yes, dessert after breakfast is now a routine that will become a tradition.
No need to feel any guilt having enjoyed breakfast. The centre has native botanical gardens, three bush trails, a native nursery, a nature playground, a discovery centre, and an eco-shop featuring sustainable products and gifts.
