Last year, 873 people in the Boroondara area were diagnosed with cancer. The Hawthorn (Boroondara) Relay for Life provides a way for the community to fight back against cancer at a local level. In the last eight years, the Hawthorn Relay For Life has raised just over $880,000 for the Cancer Council. These funds are imperative to improving cancer outcomes, by funding research, prevention, and support programs.



This year, the Hawthorn (Boroondara) Relay for Life starts at 4.00 pm on Saturday 22nd March (finishing at 10.00 am on 23rd March) at the John Gardiner Reserve, Auburn Road, Hawthorn East. For more information, or to enter or support a team or individual, please go to the Relay for Life page .



As a fundraiser for the Relay, the Indie Market Place is holding a Family Fun Day on Saturday 8th March, from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm, at the Auburn Uniting Church in Oxley Road, Hawthorn. There will be lots of stalls and entertainment, including a jumping castle, face painting, a magician, cake and market stalls, entertainment for children, a silent auction, raffle and much more.
