Sydney has a sizeable Indian population and artefacts from India especially traditional jewellery and woven scarfs are popular all over the world. There are many local Indian fashion stores in Sydney and small and medium businesses that import and sell Indian made goods and that is precisely what Indian Fashion Markets aims to bring together. Rather than looking to go from suburb to suburb and store to store, all the sellers will be brought together in the comfort of one location, much like a pop-up Indian mall. Apart from local businesses, some stall holders are from interstate and there are some from India too, so it will be a perfect opportunity to see whats on offer.
Expect to see traditional Indian outfits like the saree or salwar kameez, cloth bags, jewellery, bangles and bindis, henna, incense sticks, home decor among other things.
The different states in India are famous for their own unique tradition, culture and language which gives birth to a variety of skills and styles. For example silk sarees from the south of India are very popular. They are made in pure silk with gold thread and are famous for their block and check designs. The eastern part of the country produces cotton fabric and clothing made out of it, the north of India is known for it's bold colours and radiant designs. The embroidery work of chikan originates from a state in the north of India. Rajasthan, a state from the north-west is famous for bandhini a tie-dye methodology of textile dyeing. With so much variety coming for one country, the markets are sure to display something of everyone's taste.
The markets will prove to be a great way to experience and visit multiple different stall holders under one roof and interact with the sellers. If you are looking for Indian wear for an occasion like a wedding or looking for Indian-inspired gifts or maybe just some Indian wear for a Bollywood-theme party then this will make your search easy.
The markets are free to enter and are a monthly event. The event calendar lists all the event dates and the event will be held between 11:00am – 4:00pm. If you a business and would like to hold tall please contact Shirleen Chand on 0431 005 869 or via firstname.lastname@example.org
