The Incredibles is a 2004 Pixar animated film about a family of superheroes who are forced to give up fighting crime and retire after public opinion turns against superheroes. The family retreat from the public sphere and each of them take up secret identities to try and live normal lives. Mr Incredible (or Bob Parr as he is also known) dislikes his new life and misses the excitement of being a superhero.
The Incredibles was a commercial and critical success. It was the second highest grossing animated film of 2004 (coming in behind Shrek 2) and it is currently listed as the seventh most successful Pixar film of all time.
The Incredibles gained a huge cult following. Fans have been begging for a sequel for years but Pixar wanted to wait until they had the right story. In March 2014, Pixar finally announced that they were going to make the Incredibles 2.
Incredibles 2 follows directly from the first film. In the second film, Bob Parr becomes a stay-at-home-dad to care for their kids after his wife Helen (Elastigirl) gets a new job and starts spending a lot of time-saving the world on her own.
It has been an incredible fourteen years since the first Incredibles film! A lot of fans who watched the first one as a kid are now adults themselves.
