And the winner of the best new cafe in Sydney goes to
The recent release of the Sydney Morning Herald's "Good Cafe Guide" 2014 has provided a treasure map for caffeine addicts looking for their next fix. For those bean hunters seeking the crema of the crop, In the Annex will not disappoint, given it's just been named "Best New Cafe" of 2014.
Located just next to a bus stop on Ross St, The Annex's open and airy design is welcoming, and perfect for people-watching. Once you step inside, you'll see the tiny kitchen area where all the food is made, an enticing cake cabinet filled with hubba-bubba flavoured lamingtons and fresh coconuts.

Like the decor, the food menu is suitably unique. We ordered the smoked salmon with poached egg ($22), the black pudding and fried egg ($16) and a steamed pork-belly bun with asian slaw ($8) just for good measure. These arrived as works of art on our table, with creative plating comparable to the hatted restaurants of Sydney that we definitely did not expect from a cafe.
