We first heard about In Thais when we were looking for a place that serves Asian cuisine in Brighton. A local recommended it to us because it's their favourite Asian dining place and they visit the place a couple of times a month. Much to our delight, the food was as delicious as the person indicated. The restaurant attracts a decent crowd with many ordering food to takeaway. During our visit we ordered the Black Pepper Noodles, Thai Fried Chicken, Thai Red Curry and Vegetarian Basil Stir Fry.
The beef in their Thai Red Curry was so tender that it easily flakes apart with a fork. The firmer vegetables cooked with the beef provided a good contrast. The curry gravy the ingredients were cooked in heightened their flavour with just the right level of heat to suit Asian tastes. If you prefer, the dish can also be prepared without beef.
In Thais' Thai Fried Chicken had quite a unique taste featuring deep fried pieces of chicken topped with a Thai cashew nut sauce. The chicken was fried to golden brown with the sauce giving the dish a distinct nutty flavour. For those that prefer something a bit more "normal", there is the choice of having lemon or sweet chilli sauce instead.
My sister loves Black Pepper Noodle dishes so we just had to order In Thais' version to have a taste. Their Black Pepper Noodles is quite similar to the
Char Kway Teow at NanYang Cafe . The dish used flat rice noodles and had a delectable char-grilled flavour with the noodles cooked to al dente. However we thought it could have used a bit more pepper flavour to make it more delicious.
While the vegetarian version of their Basil Stir Fry does not normally have tofu, the staff was happy to incorporate tofu in the dish for us. All the vegetables had the right amount of bite to them with the tofu adding a wonderful chewy element to the dish. Everything was tied together by the basil sauce which subtly enhanced the flavour of the dish without overwhelming it.
Our enjoyment did not end with the meal. We were each given a Fortune Cookie when we settled the bill and had fun reading each other's 'fortune' as well enjoying the crispy cookies. We also enjoyed a complimentary main course by using an
Entertainment Book voucher.
In addition to their main menu, In Thais also offers a selection of cupcakes for dessert or as a snack. The restaurant also serves breakfast until 11.30am during the weekends. Ambience of the restaurant was good with a decent amount of parking space along the street in front of the restaurant.
