For a day of sensory overload, the sounds, taste and experiences of everything that's Jewish in Melbourne, head for the Jewish Culture Street Festival on Selwyn Street, Elsternwick on Sunday 17 March 2019 from 11am to 5pm. It's a FREE fun event, however, you need to REGISTER to attend.

Promoting social cohesion and community understanding, it's for all age groups and backgrounds, along with all members of the Jewish community, regardless of political, social or religious differences. Bursting with extraordinary talent and creativity and contributing towards Australian and Jewish life, come along and celebrate this wonderfully unique culture. With a great lineup of events, the program will be announced closer to date. Keep in touch via the Event Page where you'll currently find a lot of information about the entertainment; and follow the running conversation on Facebook.

The One Brush Art Exhibition is back, and will reflect a Purim/Persian theme, showcasing the wonderful, creative talents of the Jewish community. What would a Festival be without food!
The Food Market will bring you some of Melbourne's favourite Kosher and Jewish food vendors; old favourites and newcomers alike. The IOV Sausage Sizzle is also back after a year away, as a cheap and quick option for both you and IOV. It raises money to ensure that One Voice stays FREE for years to come.

Still on the subject of food, the Nosh Tent is the yiddishe mame's go to destination. IOV's very own food stage for the day, learn to cook like the pros, enter your own baking or just sample some of the community's best nosh with a Purim theme for your yontef inspirations. Celebrity chefs, community favourites and the best amateur bakers will be there, with more to be announced closer to date.

Continuing on the subject of our favourite pastime; how good are your hamentaschen? This year sees the introduction of the impact Purim Hamentaschen Bake-Off! If you have a secret recipe, now is the time to bring it out to win some great prizes. Enter this comp and your best hamantaschen will be judge by the renown Agathé Kerr of Agathé Pâtisserie, South Melbourne Market. You'll find all the details and cost of entry HERE. All funds (100%), will be donated to impact , a volunteer-run charity making a difference to women and children fleeing extreme violence at home.

The core of the IOV Festival is the Community Groups Expo. It represents every facet and persuasion of Jewish community activities, including youth, women, ecological groups, synagogues, sporting groups, welfare and other special interests and issues. This event enables the community groups to promote their services and spread their mission. Showcasing the remarkable richness of Jewish community life, it gives you the opportunity to get to know what it has to offer.

The highlight of the Festival, the Street Concert will zing un tantz to the sounds of Jewish Melbourne and a secret international guest will be announced closer to date. Can you guess who it might be? Festival favourites YID returns to blast you into space with their futuristic-funk-klez experience. Don't miss out on this 22-piece party that'll transform what you thought you knew about Jewish music. Dreamy trio The Bashevis Singers also returns with their harmonious vocals and unique Yid-Folk style at this family affair. New to the IOV stage is Yoni Giraffe who are sure to bring joy to those young and young-at-heart with their three part harmonies and jazz arrangements to other iconic Israeli songwriters' songs of the 70s. As always, beloved school and community choirs and bands will get your body moving and your heart pumping between sets.

The kids haven't been forgotten with their dedicated Kids Zone that caters for even the youngest of children with youth group activities, games, face painting, virtual reality and exciting interactive demonstrations. This Festival is an event for the whole family to enjoy and have a great time! Last but not least, the success of a Festival relies on volunteers to assist during the lead up to and on the day of the festival.
