The Marriage of Figaro is one of Mozart's best loved comic operas.

The Marriage of Figaro recounts a single "day of madness" in the palace of Count Almaviva in Spain. Count Almaviva is a scheming, bullying, skirt-chasing baritone. His head servant, Figaro, is about to marry Susanna who is being pursued by the Count. Figaro, Susanna, and the Countess conspire to embarrass the Count and expose his scheming. It all ends happily, though.

The music is charming, light and technically exacting. The West Australian Opera is mounting a full production of the opera in July and WAO is giving the public a taste of the opera with a small selection of arias together with more from Mozart's repertoire, Cosi fan Tutte, The Magic Flute and others.

This one-off singular presentation stars Lucy Mervik (Soprano), IIeana Rinaldi (Mezzo soprano), Richard Symons (Tenor) and Sam Robert-Smith (Baritone).

The performance lasts an hour and is on at 10:30am on the 17th June, at His Majesty's Theatre , 825 Hay Street, Perth. Tickets costs $27 (which included morning tea) and may be obtained from the Ticketek website or by phoning 1300 795 012.
