Objectifs, the leading centre for photography and film in Singapore, invites Gary Knight, a critically acclaimed veteran documentary photographer, to give a public lecture and conduct a masterclass. This will be his second visit this year. He and Ron Haviv gave a talk at Objectifs in October.

Knight is a co-founder of VII Photo, one of the leading photo agencies in the world today. The British photojournalist started his career in Southeast Asia in 1988. Since then, he has worked as a freelance photojournalist for many leading print media companies such as Newsweek, Time, The Sunday Times, The New York Times, Paris Match, Stern and National Geographic, covering various topics like global conflicts, human rights and the impact of war on civilians in Cambodia, Burma, Kashmir, Afghanistan, Iraq, Bosnia, Congo and Israel-Palestine. Evidence - War Crimes in Kosovo was published in 2002. Knight received an Amnesty International UK Media Award, photojournalism category, for his work on War crimes in Kosovo for Newsweek International.


Knight has published several essays on journalism and photography. Over the years, he kept evolving his visual storytelling by embracing diverse creative approaches and new technologies. His work has been exhibited worldwide and collected by several museums and private collectors. His handcrafted prints are available for order here .

He is a man who constantly strives for more. In 2005, he founded Angkor Photo Festival in Cambodia. Since 2008, he has worked on documentary and anthropological storytelling projects. In 2010, he initiated the Program for Narrative & Documentary Practice at Tufts University, USA. Now he is also known as an experienced educator.

On this occasion, he will share his rich experiences as a freelance photojournalist and his insights as a co-founder of VII Photo. The talk will be held in the auditorium of the National Design Centre of Singapore.
