Television audiences around the world have been addicted to and intrigued by the Netflix US real crime documentary hit,
Making A Murderer which explored the case of Steven Avery.
The 10-part series examined the case of Steven Avery, a 53-year-old man from Manitowoc County, Wisconsin, who was found guilty in 1985 of rape, exonerated after almost two decades and then, found guilty in 2005 of a second crime, murder. Avery is currently serving a sentence of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
US Attorney, Dean Strang, defended Steven Avery in 2006 which is detailed in
Making a Murderer. This October, Strang will appear at the Brisbane Powerhouse and share the successes and challenges of the Steven Avery case and its broader implications, along with the systemic failures of the criminal justice system in conversation with Paul Barclay.
Dean Strang is still practicing law in the state of Wisconsin. He's a partner in the firm of Strang Bradley LLC in Madison.
A Question and Answer session with the audience follows the discussion. Don't miss out of what will be an engaging and thought-provoking conversation.
