Zoom into in bloom
In bloom is the perfect little last minute saving grace of busy city workers who may have forgotten someone's birthday or going-away party at work. It is so convenient - located just outside of Town Hall leading to George Street. On this theme they sell cards and little balloons that come on a stick – not the cumbersome huge ones but the neat little ones that can easily be transported to the office or bar without knocking down unsuspecting fellow city pedestrians and causing havoc for the one you give them to as they leave the office. It also helps that they offer Eftpos and credit card transactions.
The florist working there is very friendly and will help to beautify your choice of flowers with some lovely ribbons to really make a good impression on the one who will receive them. Watching him work the ribbons is fascinating, it is like watching a master at work, and with skill and dedication and what seems like a few effortless flicks of the wrist he is done. It is all done with ease and breathtaking efficiency. A beautiful bouquet is yours, for $37.50.
The pre-made flower bouquets are wonderful and use some impressive design principles – from colour schemes to the way the scent of the flowers flows together and brings a unique and fresh perfume to the air – there is something striking about them. The single bunches of the same type of flower are no less beautiful and stand out with lovely ribbons (that the florist will apply on request). The bunch of big pink lilies is impressive at only $19.95 and the red roses for the same price are classically romantic. You can pick up a bunch of pink gerberas to add cheer to your colleges day for less than $20.
All of the prices are clearly marked at In Bloom, which actually makes a big difference to busy people, it is so simple but some shops don't realise if people need to ask they are likely to not be bothered and walk away. A nice touch is the selling of live white orchards and potted cactus plants, a living gift that will last much longer (if it is taken care of) and can brighten up the artificial world that is the city. Just being surrounded by potted plants (even in the city) can have a stress reducing effect according to many health experts, breathing slightly fresher air is sure to put you in a better frame of mind too. So pick up a little pot of freshness here for $17.95. It is tempting to get things for yourself while you are here, and why not? A little plant can bring so much joy.
Don't get me wrong, you can order flowers online if you are organised enough and the results are sure to be beautiful and impressive however, in this location most of the customers seem to be those hapless humans who forget important things or do things at the last minute. Life is just like that sometimes and if you have left yourself with no time and little money, but need an impressive bouquet to make someone's day then look no further than in Bloom at Town Hall entrance.
