"A flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it. It just blooms." – Zen Shin
The Old School House Gallery in Cleveland has a new exhibition totally befitting these beautiful November days. 'In Bloom' is the theme with floral ceramics by Carys Martin and paintings by Vicki Whalan and Junita Grosvenor. As the title suggests, the display features bursts of colour that will make the sternest smile with pleasure.
The Old SchoolHouse Gallery promotes the visual arts by instruction, information and inspiration. Participation is encouraged through workshops and the celebration of artistic expression by providing opportunities to exhibit projects for sale. It is a community art gallery run by the artists.
In the late 1800's, the building did serve as the house for Cleveland's first official school master, though not in its current position nor form. It is well worth walking through the rooms for a sense of history.
In Bloom will be continue until Sunday, 1st of December. Generally, the exhibitions change on a monthly basis so there are always new things on view or to purchase. Tip: I've picked up some really lovely gifts for family on occasions - just a friendly warning.
Entry into the Gallery at 124-126 Shore Street North, Cleveland is FREE and it is open Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 9.30 to 4.30pm. There is onsite parking and wheelchair access.
