With summer arriving at full force and the holiday/Christmas rush starting to show, it's important that you take some time to note down a list of important numbers you can refer to in the case of an emergency. Here is a list of Perth phone numbers that everyone in Perth should have saved on their phone, or print them out and keep them on your fridge for reference.

Emergency Numbers
The three most common numbers that you may require in an emergency during the holiday season is police, fire and ambulance services. If you are in an emergency, ALWAYS dial triple zero (000) to speak to an operator who will transfer your call to the relevant emergency service. However, if you are calling for a non-emergency that does not require an immediate response, use the numbers below:

• Police (non-emergency) – 131 444
If you require the assistance of the Western Australia Police Force and you're not in an emergency, contact them on 131 444. This number should be used to report a disturbance or antisocial behaviour, a property-related incident (such as your house being robbed or belongings being stolen), or to discuss an incident that has occurred in the past.

• Fire (non-emergency) – 133 337
Unfortunately, during the summer season, especially in rural and areas around Perth with dense bushland, fires are quite prominent. If you need any reliable information or updates from DFES, give them a call on 133 337 or visit their website.

• Ambulance (non-emergency) – (08) 9334 1222
If you're in a situation where you need to transport someone to hospital however don't have a vehicle or require the help of trained professionals, get in contact with St John Ambulances on (08) 9334 1222. They will send a specialised team and vehicle to your location to transport the patient to the closest hospital.

Utilities
Power outages, water shutdowns and gas leaks can cause catastrophe in the event of an emergency. Keep the following numbers saved in your phone so you're prepared in the event of any utility issues:

• Water – 131 375
If you require urgent assistance from the Water Corporation due to issues such as no water, overflows or infrastructure issues you have encountered, contact them on 131 375. However, if it's not an emergency or your just require general information, speak to an operator on 131 385 between 5am-5pm Monday to Friday.

For emergencies such as power outages, fallen or damaged powerlines, call Western Powers emergency 24 hour phoneline on 131 351. If you're looking to make a general enquiry and not currently in an emergency, call 131 087 between 7am-5pm Monday to Friday.

If you've noticed a gas fault, have an emergency or can smell gas, get in contact with ATCO Gas immediately on 131 352. However, for general enquiries, you can contact them on 131 356 between 7am-6pm Monday to Friday.

While these numbers may not be used in life threatening emergencies, it's a good idea to remember them or keep a list of these numbers on hand.

• State Emergency Service (SES) – 132 500
The State Emergency Service are a group of volunteers who provide help in the event of a natural disaster. This include repairing buildings, restoring essential services and supporting people affected by the disaster. If you believe you or someone you know could use their help, contact them on 132 500.
