Cornerstone of Eumundi
Welcome to
The Imperial Hotel in Eumundi, home to the
Eumundi Brewery or
Brewmundi as it is affectionately called. The impressive
Imperial Hotel is the focal centrepiece of the little hinterland village of Eumundi and has been courting locals and visitors since its inception in 1911. Can you believe that -
The Imperial Hotel is more than one hundred years old!

The Imperial Hotel is more than 100 years old
Recently we had a 'date' in Eumundi with friends of ours, who were visiting all the way from Spain and
The Imperial Hotel is definitely a bucket list item of
'must do' icons on the Sunshine Coast, besides also being a superb centrally-located
'where shall we meet?' spot.

A vibrant and colourful ambience
With gorgeously colourful and creative decor, funky murals and an eclectic array of colourful furnishings, this sublime Queensland hotel draws you in, like a moth to a flame, to experience its magical allure. A mind-blowing cross-section of historical, bohemian art, creative pub classics and boutique brews, all add to the fascinating world of
The Imperial Hotel in Eumundi.

Oh my gosh, I just love this chair!
This iconic Hotel's expansive sweeping verandahs overlook the leafy main street of Eumundi, perpetually busy with the town's creative community's activities and tourists keen to enjoy the creative buzz, that is Eumundi. This busyness is never more apparent than on world-famous
Eumundi Market days, which are presently held twice a week on a Wednesday and a Saturday. But, no matter the day of the week, Eumundi is a treasured creative, friendly hub that locals and visitors swarm to, in their droves.

Besides being home to the
Eumundi Markets, cultural offerings, boutique shopping and a variety of dining experiences, Eumundi is undoubtedly one of Australia's most loved tourist destinations. The pivotal to Eumundi,
Imperial Hotel, offers an intimate location to relax, refresh and socialise.

Great spot to be for lunch
We chose the Beer Garden area for our lunch rendezvous, which lends itself to the comings and goings of patrons, ensuring that we didn't miss our friends when they arrived for our 'date'. Even though it was lunchtime and the Markets were already winding down for the day, it was refreshing to note that
The Imperial Hotel was relatively busy and it wasn't even a public holiday.

Welcome to Brewmundi
The Imperial Hotel is also home to the
Eumundi Brewery, with their very own Eumundi Brewery Lager and Eumundi Brewery Pale Ale plus a selection of other seasonal beers. Visitors can book in for a sixty minute Eumundi Brewery Tasting Tour, either on a
Wednesday online here, or on a
Saturday online here. The
Eumundi Brewery Tasting Tour will take you through the history of brewing in Eumundi and what makes the Eumundi amber liquid so more-some. Tour prices are $20 and $18 for pensioners/students; or $35 for a Tour Lunch combo (get to choose from the special Brewery lunch menu). All Brewery Tasting Tour prices include a 'tasting log'.

You never know what you'll find around the corner - a multi-coloured Winged Lion
I digress, let's get back to lunch. The artiness and creativity that surround you at
The Imperial Hotel tends to make one forget the reason for being there in the first place - there's just so much to look at and to absorb! The Lunch Menu has everything from starters to burgers, tacos and schnitzels to Imperial Char steaks as well as a Little Munchkins menu.

My more-ishly divine salad
My choice for lunch was the
baby spinach, pumpkin and ricotta salad with roasted fennel, chickpeas, toasted pistachio and a lemon thyme vinaigrette for $18 -
verdict: more-ishly divine;

Extremely tender calamari
Hubby and friend No. 1 must have been counting their calories, because their choice for lunch was identical - the starter of
salt 'n pepper flash fried calamari served with Imperial aioli, for $19 -
verdict: excellent with extremely tender calamari;

Seared tuna burger
Friend No. 2's choice was the
'yellow-fin seared tuna burger with avocado salsa, pickled cucumber and wasabi mayonnaise on a charcoal brioche bun with sweet potato fries $22 - I forgot to ask for her verdict, but judging by the empty plate, I think I can safely attest to another very good choice.
