Summer at NIDA is nothing short of inspiring! It's a great time for everyone to open their minds to a whole new world, explore their creative potential and indulge their imagination.

From 9–15 January 2017, NIDA Open will offer courses for adults in acting and directing – giving you a chance to imagine the possibilities and explore your creative side under the guidance of Australia's best performing arts professionals.

Courses will be held at Subiaco Arts Centre (180 Hamersley Road, Subiaco).

Screen Acting Techniques

Develop an understanding of screen acting techniques and explore their application to short scenes from contemporary film and television. Discover your on-screen presence and gain confidence in performing truthfully on camera.

Dates & times: Monday 9–Friday 13 January, 10am–5pm

Ages: 18+ years

Course fee: $600

 

Acting Essentials

Develop core acting skills including improvisation, voice and movement. Gain confidence rehearsing and performing short scenes.

Dates & times: Saturday 14–Sunday 15 January, 10am–5pm

Ages: 18+ years

Course fee: $325

 

Directing Essentials

Learn how to create a director's concept that communications your interpretation of the play and unifies the elements of a production. Understand the processes of preparing for rehearsal and the relationship of story, design and performance.

Dates & times: Saturday 14–Sunday 15 January, 10am–5pm

Ages: 18+ years
