I'd love to say I told you so because she's just that good, but I won't. Dolly is just a smooth operator and I never have a problem highly recommending any of her shows. But only if you like sassy, witty, cheeky, raspy vocals and a huge dollop of naughty of course! And watch out if you dare interrupt her show - she'll be on to you, spitting out a sassy comedic whiplash that'll make you wish you hadn't, coz everyone else will be getting a good laugh out of it - coz Dolly is just Diva, and there's just no one like her!
After seeing her at the Arbory Silent Comedy night, we vowed to come to I'm Not Angry, Just Disappointed. A few pre-show dinner and drinks later and a walk through a vibrant city night complete with Hari Krishna dancers in a roaming performance and a busker at the corner of Bourke, singing a favourite song of mine by The Paper Kites, we landed at Comedy Republic at 231 Bourke St in the City for the show. There's a bar and waiting area before you head up two flights of steps for the performance.
The hour passes oh so quickly with Dolly on board as she swans through her routine of dance moves, familiar songs injected with her original naughty, sassy lyrics that support the story she's telling, and of course, the straight out comedy as she reads through her lockdown diary injected at times; let's face it, most times with a lascivious grin, look or body language she's so good at. We got lucky to have two cabaret queens and comedians on stage on the night with the appearance of Tash York on stage
Dolly and Tash belting out the song I'll Do Anything in a duet with their own special lyrics injected was the best. Dolly has her distinct raspy deep notes oozing like honey with innuendo and Tash is a powerhouse vocalist to boot! Just too much talent for one person and two on stage just makes you go GAHGAH! Tonight - Sat 10 April 2021 at 9.10pm is Dolly's last night for I'm Not Angry, Just Disappointed (click on links of shows mentioned in this paragraph & one below, for tickets), so catch it if you can.
I'm off to see Tash York as well, so why don't you join me. Tash's show Petty Bitches Best LYF performance dates are from 12-18 April 7.30m at Campari House, 23-25 Hardware Ln, Melbourne. Along with Boo Dwyer, it's a case of your favourite cabaret bitches, back with their legendary leopard print madness and a whole new show designed to make you shine. Don't miss this amazing talent.
