Coming this winter (July 2023) is the City Lights, Illuminate Adelaide FREE art, light and technology program, playing out all across our beautiful city.

The exhibition will light up iconic urban landscapes with a high-tech display of light and sounds. Running nightly from the 7th of July to the 23rd, viewers will have access to the installations, all over the city, in the North, East and West precincts.

City Lights will feature open-air artworks, interactive sculptures, and boundary-pushing experiments from some really creative artists. It's a great reason to bring the family out in the city, to check out the creative displays around our iconic areas.

Some examples of what to expect, include the Affinity by Amigo and Amigo piece, which is inspired by the human brain, featured at the South Australian Museum lawns. (Picture at the top of article). The globes within the exhibition all represent a memory and through light and sound, the viewer can watch the memories travel around the structure.



Electric Dandelions (above) standing 28 feet tall and previously presented in New York City, Toronto, Los Angeles, and Jerusalem. The display is reminiscent of a great night of fireworks and the grand scale of them, is awe-inspiring.



And Trumpet Flowers, (above) where the creators bring the gramophone into the 21st century with lights and sound through animated musical scores. The floral displays encourage the viewer to use the keys under the towering flowers to create a symphony of musical scores, created by Otis Studios and Carlos Arango.

These are only three of the 18 displays scheduled to light up our city. Other interactive instalments include Connect 4 and Snake on a grand scale for everyone to get involved in. The art is designed to entertain young and old so make sure you get into the city this winter to see how the nightlife brings these creative art pieces joy to the community.
