Bushwalking in a Rainforest
Illawarra Grevillea Park is situated behind the Bulli Showground in front of Slacky Flat Park. The entrance fee is $5.00 and is opened Saturday 14 May, Sunday 15 May, Saturday 2 July, Sunday 3 July, Saturday 9 July, Sunday 10 July, Saturday 3 September, Sunday 4 September, Saturday 10 September and Sunday 11 September between 10am and 4pm. Parts of the garden are open all year round and so is the rear rainforest.
The Garden opened in 1993 but Grevilleas have always been a part of Bulli and the garden was only made due to expanding premises of the nursery. The land is owned by Wollongong Council and is leased to the Illawarra Grevillea Park Society, who maintain the garden and volunteer their time to make sure the gardens are presentable on open days.
The enclosed gardens are only open 12 days a year and these days are weekends. You can find plants for sale as well. The gardens are made up of native plants and really easy gravel walking tracks. So if you are not a fan of bushwalking, this is the place to go.
