mamma style servings at this Tratt
We found ourselves in
Concord last weekend checking out some properties and, while I literally live a few minutes drive away, we rarely venture to the "restaurant strip" of
Majors Bay Road. But here we were wondering which restaurant to choose when I saw
il Tratto Ra Ro Pizzeria. I recalled someone recommending it to me a while ago, so in we went. While its not one of the most modern or fancy places on the street, this trattoria style restaurant delivers what it should. Italian home style cooking with generous "mamma" style servings. It was the perfect chilly day for some winter warmer style food.

Lots of specials to choose from
From the specials menu I chose the
Osso Buco with Risotto (slow cooked veal shank), a traditional Milanese meal and it reminded me of my childhood. At $32.00, the serving was huge, it was tasty and i really enjoyed my "flashback" meal. My partner chose the
Filletto. At 39.90, this 250gm Grilled eye fillet came topped with tiger prawns, crispy prosciutto, black truffle and red wine jus served on a bed of mushroom, wilted spinach and mash potato. He said the flavours were great and it was tender. Obviously I will never make it as a food photographer, but it certainly tasted better than it photographed.

Trattoria style food
For my 5yr old I ordered a small portion of
Gnocchi Quattro Formaggi. I tried one, it was soft, light and definitely melted in your mouth (nothing worse than chewy heavy gnocchi) but lacked a bit in taste for my liking and quickly became quite mushy. On the plus side, the bread used in the garlic bread was authentic Italian style bread and moreish. The bread most places use does not even come close to being Italian.
This
family owned restaurant is also known for their pizzas which are made on a hot stone. The ones that whizzed past me en route to other tables looked great with a thin base and not overly topped. Just the way it should be. For further information, please visit their
website.
