Register now for the IKON Institute of Australia 'Introduction to Art Therapy' one day workshop.
This unique workshop is designed for individuals who are interested in becoming art therapists; counsellors and other professionals wanting professional development; and artists of various modalities, who want to explore the therapeutic side of art.
The workshop will be held at 16 Brookes St Bowen Hills QLD 4006 on Saturday 22nd of February, 2014, from 9.30am to 4pm. and will provide a detailed introduction to the Art Therapy discipline, which combines art and psychotherapy.
In this workshop, participants will learn about the origins, application and effectiveness of Art Therapy in a range of professions. The curriculum is divided into three parts and includes an interactive component.
It is important to note that Art Therapy is about understanding, not appreciation, so being 'good at art' is not important.
In this workshop, participants will complete individual, paired and group work and have the opportunity to create, reflect and explore personal meaning, and to experience the potential of art-making as a tool for personal growth, connectedness and self-awareness.
Through an experiential focus on their own art-making, participants will gain a basic understanding of how art can enrich and facilitate working with others in a range of community and health care settings. People who are already active in human service work in the community may also find the workshop supports thinking about their practice from a new orientation.
The workshop will be facilitated by Jenni Chester.
Enrolment is now open; the all inclusive-fee for this workshop is $125 and $105 concession. All required materials will provided.
Tea, coffee & biscuits will also be provided throughout the day.
