I am a writer living in Adelaide. I love food and travel.

More than just shopping
What's the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word IKEA? Shopping? Well, may I suggest food? The restaurant at IKEA is definitely worth a mention. It is located upstairs on the right as you enter. It has a wide selection of food that is generally affordable to most people.
I believe the favourite would have to be its traditional meatballs. You get ten pieces for $7.95, and it is served with cream sauce, lingonberry jam and either mash or chips.
Other choices include soup, quiche, pasta, salad, rolls, sandwiches, wraps, veggie balls and salmon fillet, all under $13. In addition to the regular menu, there is a different special available each month. Two examples of previous specials were peri peri chicken and spinach ricotta cannelloni.
For the early birds, breakfast is also served in the restaurant. You can get either pancakes or croissant for under $3. However, I believe the most popular would be its $2 weekend brekkie which consists of scrambled eggs, bacon, hash brown, sausage, beans and tomato.
And of course there are desserts, drinks and kids' meals available as well.
The restaurant opening hours are from 9.30am to 8pm on weekdays and from 9am to 4.30pm on weekends. Because of its close proximity to the Adelaide Airport, IKEA Restaurant has become my first preference for meals before I catch my flights.
enjoyable article. Breakfast for $2 is certainly cheap.. I have been there in the past and found it to be a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. If you get tired of shopping you can pop into the cafe for a break. There are activities for children in the cafe as well. Informal and friendly.
