A poet, a musician, a genius. Leonard Cohen has undoubtedly inspired generations of writers and musicians across the world. The Canadian was born in 1934 and died in 2016, some of his songs included Suzanne, Hallelujah and Everybody Knows.

The Jonesway Theatre, where the performance is being held, is a little out of the main part of Perth but it's a quaint little venue. A few lucky patrons got to sit at tables right in front of the band but the main seats are a little on the large size (which is nice) and very comfortable.

Sylvia Cornes leads a lively, sparkly and colourful band in a one-hour tribute to the man, his music and his poetry.

The band included;
Sylvia Cornes - Lead Vocals
Beau Haines - Drums
Greta Andrews-Taylor - Bass
Henry Clarke - Vocals and Guitar
Mae Anthony - Vocals, Keys, Mandolin
Verity Brean - Vocals and Keys

Now I have to admit - there was only one song I recognised from the whole show - the final song which was Hallelujah but this fact did not detract from the rest of the evening. All the music was very well performed - vocals from Sylvia and Mae are a standout. I even enjoyed the spots of poetry dotted through the night.

I did feel a little out of place as I seemed to be one of the youngest in the audience - that explains why I didn't know most of the songs though. It was easy to see the rest of the audience was enthralled with the whole performance - I even caught a few people singing along at times.

Fans of Leonard Cohen of all ages will thoroughly enjoy this performance.
