Forget crazy Chermside and go to a little suburb, Banyo
In the small suburb of Banyo on Brisbane's Northside, a little store called Ideology has the locals enthralled with its beautiful handmade and designer stock, gorgeous window displays and social crochet evenings. With a focus on local, this little store features local artisan delights throughout including Skyepiece Jewellery, Treble Two fine crochet creations, Indulgence at Shorncliffe Natural Body Products, and Sneaky Beads ceramics.
Located across from Banya train station, this little haven is the perfect spot to pick up a gift or a new outfit for any occasion. Owner, Erin Larson has a fabulous eye for fashion and her store is carefully curated with large tables and wooden shop fit. You will find interesting feature lighting, mirrors textile cushions in the home wares department with a distinct Moroccan feel in bright happy colours.
In the past, Ideology has hosted markets in the space next door to the current shop with great success. There are some exciting developments in the works for that space so while they are no longer having the Banyo Hand-craft Bazaar, there will be change for the better with a new adjunct soon.
Erin has been running a crochet group every fortnight in the space for beginners and those who need some crochet 'support'. For $30 you can learn to crochet and head off with all the skills to continue learning at home. You can also come along for just $15 and get technical support including tips on different starting stitches as well as reading UK/US terminology and graph patterns.
