The birthday princess
Is it just me or are parties getting more lavish, more expensive and more competitive? I can't even remember having a party as a child apart from the impromptu afternoon tea with the neighbours. I wasn't neglected and I don't feel I missed out, but the every second year rule was met by my children with disbelief and even disdain when I first posed the notion.
Of course all the other kids have parties every year, they invite the whole year level and they have an acrobatic clown who can do double back flips on the gigantic jumping castle while creating balloons the shape of lions. Forget fairy parties, you can now have a unicorn party.
[ADVERT]Obviously children's party planners have found their niche. Parents are spoilt for choice. I have discovered that there are myriad choices to cater for even the fussiest birthday child. Here's some to consider:
Cook a biscuit or decorate a cupcake. Petit Four Chefs are worth considering if you would like your own tea party.
For the athletic type
The hardest apart is choosing from many types of jumping castles. ABC Jumping Castles offers the lowest guaranteed prices. For those testosterone charged, try a laser tag party or learn to sword fight.
Parties for animal lovers
Koalas, ponies or something a little on the wild side? Be draped by a snake or cuddle a crocodile if you dare. The Zoo Comes to You and Animals Oz offer interactive and educational parties. For a more peaceful party invite a pet farm.
For a less whimsical, more educated, try a science party. Kids can make things go pop, fizz, and bang. Make something gross.
Perhaps a real catwalk experience with lighting and professional dressing rooms? Make me Little Miss Runway offer a fashion party.
For something completely different, a magical Wonderland of Ice is possibly the coolest party idea. In the ice lunge everything is made of ice, even the cups.
And if you still haven't found anything to tickle your fancy try a theme party - anything your heart could desire, from mermaids, Ben 10, Dora, Harry Potter, Star Wars, and Bob the Builder to superheroes. Learn how to sword fight at a swash buckle party.
For any character, any suburb, any theme, try Character City Theme Parties. Combo deals often include face painting, balloons, lolly bags, food and prizes. The hardest part will be writing the invitation and licking the envelopes.
It's low calories!
Without lifting a finger you can be the coolest parent/party planner. Let your imagination go wild; if you can dream it you can have it. Pick or create perfect, unique parties for your little princess or prince. No fuss, no stress, no prep… what more could you want?
