Help shape our city centre's future
Ideas Fiesta

Ideas Fiesta is three weeks of free, fun events taking place at various venues in the city from April 11 to May 3. Brisbane City Council will bring together community, business, and government at these exciting events, aimed at generating new ideas, showcasing design concepts, and stimulating interest in the future of Brisbane's CBD.

Based upon the principles of collaboration, the Ideas Fiesta is an important part of Brisbane City Council's plan for preparing the new City Centre Master Plan. Join in the fun, from laneway parties and live music to street picnics and guided walks, and help shape our city centre's future.

These are just some of the highlights:

Week One

Thursday, April 11
12pm to 2:30pm

Lord Mayor Graham Quirk will officially launch Ideas Fiesta at Brisbane's City Hall.

Friday, April 12
4pm to 10pm

Spencer Lane, off Margaret Street, will come to life with an Arabian Night. Enjoy Middle Eastern music, Moroccan food, mint tea, and Kasbah coolers from the award-winning Urbane Restaurant. Celebrate the laneway's history and share your ideas for the future.

Saturday, April 13
9:45am to 1:30pm

Sketch how you see the city centre now and your vision of it in the future at Sketchcrawl, beginning at 71 Eagle Street (near River Bar Cafe). Visit Brisbane Sketchcrawl's Facebook page for more information.

2pm to 8pm

Sunday, April 14

Kick start the weekend on the lush lawns at Post Office Square (300 Queen Street). Pack a picnic, relax on a rug, and enjoy live jazz.

Saturday, April 20

Brisbane City Council is restoring the Howard Smith Wharves from a derelict site into a popular parkland. Head to the community open day and be one the first to see the new river deck, enjoy a barbecue, and art exhibitions. Access the wharves via Boundary Street. Parking is limited.

2pm to 5pm

Scavenger Snaps is a photography scavenger hunt through the CBD. Discover hidden sights and secrets in Brisbane's city streets and laneways while searching for items. Upload your photos online to win great prizes. The scavenger hunt starts at King George Square.

Sunday, April 21

Head to the City Botanic Gardens for a Sunday full of surprises. Browse Art on the Fence, vote for your favourite movable chair, and try out the impressive nature-inspired recliner created by QUT creative design students at Sunday Reserved (For You). Fun activities include eco-puppet making, circus skills, and tai chi.

Art @ the Park is an open-air art market where you can view and purchase artworks by local artists. Art @ the Park will also offer art classes and a large, interactive art activity for all to enjoy.
