There wasn't much happening in the small township of Macedon on a late Sunday afternoon until we stumbled across Ida Red. The smell of the wood fire oven pizzas as we walk past had lured us inside to discover what Ida Red was all about and so glad we did.
We loved the casual vibe inside the restaurant and the recycled pallet theme throughout. Stuffed deer and bear heads adorn the walls along with potted plants, old farmhouse tools and basically anything wood cabin themed.
From the menu I ordered the Roasted Zucchini which came out, sizzling in a hot pan, seasoned with dukkah and embellished with tahini dressing. A delicious spicy vegetarian dish which was quite filling.
My partner ordered the Slow cooked HOT chipotle beef burger with slaw and chips. This was real hot, even for him. So I recommend this dish only if you can take really hot spicy food.
Interesting how we found ourselves eating not what we had originally come in for. They do however have a great selection of wood fire oven pizzas, which I'm sure we will be back to try out.
