Cut me another slice of that delicious Le Gateau Chocolat
Of all the cakes that come and go in fashion the Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte (Black Forest Cake) is arguably the most adored. Some years ago I saw it on a menu with French pretensions as Gateau Forest Noir, which I've used, tongue in cheek, ever since.

This occurred to me when reading about Icons at this year's Fringe World as the performer is the London-born of Nigerian heritage Le Gateau Chocolat (Chocolate cake, served 'hot').
In the hour at his disposal in Icons Le Gateau Chocolat explores the range of his own personal icons of music, fashion and personality.
As a vibrant, vivacious drag and cabaret artist Le Gateau could well be expected to have impressive icons - and this is indeed the case - Shirley Bassey, Elvis Presley, Richard Wagner, Kate Bush, George Gershwin and Whitney Houston all are explored and glorified in this Icons.
Icons runs in the De Parel Spiegeltent, Perth Cultural Centre, James Street Northbridge at 7:45pm from Friday January the 22nd to Sunday the 31st.
Tickets cost From $32 and are available from the Fringe World website here.
