Open daily, from 10am during the summer period (December 21st, 2012 until 28th January, 2013), the temporary ice rink, supplied by Ice Australia, is situated right on the end of the pier, giving the feeling that you are skating in the middle of the bay.
The rink, open until 10pm nightly, is even more spectacular when the sun goes down, illuminated by blue and white party lights. Check out this great snap of the rink lit up at night!
Thanks to Ice Australia's Facebook page for the picture of their Geelong rink at nightime!
Over on Ice Australia's Facebook page you can find more information, as well as have the opportunity to win free family, double and single passes weekly (on Fridays) as well as download a voucher which entitles the bearer to $5 off the price (valid for up to 2 people) - making an affordable family activity even cheaper! You can check out the Facebook page here.
As this is a temporary rink, it is rather small and given the blistering head we have already endured this summer and predictions of further heat for the rest of summer, The Pier can get extremely busy, especially during the hotter days, so be patient and prepared to wait, as well as being patient and tolerant of others whilst on the rink.
There is plenty of public transport options available to Geelong from most towns or larger cities, with local buses and trains running to and from Melbourne and other city destinations, while parking is available on site.
With a wide range of opening hours, adult tickets from $15 (with the voucher) and cheaper prices available for concession and children, be sure to drop in to The Pier this summer before the 28th of January to ensure you don't miss out! Get your skates on!
