The Ice Arena at Thebarton is a fun place to go, especially on a hot summer day or when you want something to do. It's quite affordable considering you can skate most of the day and there is also plenty of entertainment, including a DJ. There are two rinks, one for beginners or those who prefer a slower pace and a larger one for more experienced skaters.
Nothing beats gliding on the ice whilst listening to the latest hit music. Everyone is happy and smiling, unless of course they are flat on their backsides after an unfortunate incident. (Try not to laugh, I've been advised it's not very polite.)
The ice arena also hosts birthday parties for children and adults starting from $22.90 per person. On Friday and Saturday nights they have 'The Fridge' sessions, which are popular with all ages and will entertain you all night long.
If you have never tried ice skating you must give it a go. It's really a lot of fun and not as difficult as you may think. It's definitely easier than rollerblading which I could never get the hang of. Don't be afraid to take the small children along either because they cater for them too. If your little one has never skated before they can with skates that attach to their shoes, preferably sneaker type shoes.
Skating is really easy to learn and Ice Arena at Thebarton is just a few minutes from the city. Admission is $14.50 for 15 and over, $12.00 for ages 6-14, $7.00 for ages 5 and under. Skate hire is $3.00 per person.
