Try their ice creme spaghetti

Ibiza N2 is a dessert restaurant that has a very interesting gimmick. This clever little ice cream shop combines fresh ingredients with nitrogen to whip up the freshest gelato right in front of you. I actually had no idea that this was their thing when we visited Ibiza N2. I thought it was just a regular ice cream shop. Imagine my surprise when I saw them get some nitrogen out of a huge barrel and then pour it into a blender. The smoke that came billowing out was like something out of a magic show.

Ibiza N2 is a one of a kind ice cream shop experience

Ibiza N2 is located on Beaufort Street in Mt Lawley. It is open 7 days a week from late morning to late night. Please check the bottom of this article for information about opening hours. There is indoor and outdoor seating available. Ibiza N2 is owned by Nadja and Ahmed. Nadja and Ahmed used to operate a Spanish eatery on Beaufort Street called Paella Republica but in 2016 they decided to close and re-open as Ibiza N2 so they could focus on selling ice cream, churros, and hot chocolate.

This is how it all works

The biggest thing you have to remember about Ibiza N2 is it is not your regular ice cream shop. You can't just ask for a scoop of chocolate as I found out. Ibiza N2 serve ice cream creations in a cup. The most popular thing on their menu is Surf on The Rock which is Chocolate Hazelnut gelato that comes out covered in rice bubbles and a hard chocolate shell with a mini caramel cone on top. This costs $9.80.

There are giant barrels of nitrogen

We got the Ferrero Rocher ice cream cup for my little girl to try. It came with Ferrero Rocher flavoured gelato covered in a hard chocolate shell that had a sprinkling of hazelnuts on top. She had fun cracking the chocolate shell with her spoon and picking off each of the nuts and nibbling on them one by one.

The magic show begins

The biggest selling point that got me into Ibiza N2 was their ice creme spaghetti. I'd seen it advertised on a billboard out the front of their shop a week before and it had been in the back of my mind ever since. I knew I had to try it. You can buy a dish of ice creme spaghetti at Ibiza N2 for $12. It is perfect for sharing between two people. It consists of vanilla ice cream pressed into long pasta like noodles. It sits on a bed of meringue and comes with chopped strawberries and strawberry sauce on top.

Crack that chocolate shell and get eating!

It was such a delight eating their ice creme spaghetti. The ice cream was creamy and rich in flavour. The chopped strawberries and red sauce were a fantastic touch. The best part was the meringue underneath. You don't realize it is there until you scoop some up with your spoon. It had the slightest fluffy crunch to it. It was the perfect complement to the soft ice cream noodles.

Ibiza N2 promises a truly unique dining experience

I was very impressed with Ibiza N2's creative approach to making gelato. I am looking forward to going back there to try something else off their crazy menu.
