Tasty Thai food with a view
Nestled among King Street Wharf's many bars and restaurants, I Thai Restaurant serves up a blend of modern and classic Thai cuisine. And with an emphasis on fresh ingredients and friendly service, this waterfront eatery is well worth a visit.
Starting with the entrees, options range from staples like satay skewers and spring rolls, through to more exotic offerings such as tea smoked quail. The tom yum goong is also worth sampling, but it's pretty hard to go past the simple pleasure of a crispy spring roll.
Perhaps the best way to enjoy a night at I Thai is to choose one of the banquet options. The Krabi Banquet costs $39.90 per person for two or more people and includes plenty of delicious dishes: prawn crackers, crispy lemongrass chicken wings, vegetable spring rolls, chicken skewers with peanut sauce, salt and pepper calamari, beef curry, chicken stir fry with chilli and garlic, jasmine rice and coconut ice cream are all included in the price.
There's plenty of seating available, but I've been told I Thai can get quite busy at times. On the rainy Friday night we visited, however, only a handful of tables were taken. This meant we got to choose a table with a good view and also that the service was prompt throughout our meal. The food was good, the serving sizes were perfect and we went home happy. We'll be back.
