I'm a mother of four with two coeliac children. I'm always on the lookout for great gluten-free spots around Brisbane and feature gluten-free cooking in my blog: coeliacfamily.blogspot.com.au
I'm also a muso and enjoy live music around town.
This is not the name you would expect for this 50's Retro Cafe in Grafton, but this little gem should not be missed when you are next passing through Northern New South Wales. Ideal for a quick and simple bite to eat, customers can enjoy the pinball games, Rock and Roll memorabilia and history of the Grafton Jacaranda Festival in this cosy cafe. The menu features good old fashioned cafe food, with burgers, milkshakes, toasties and hot dogs all very reasonably priced. There is also a full range of coffees, teas and drinks to wet your whistle. Staff are happy to arrange gluten free options and provide friendly and helpful service.
However the best feature of this cafe is, of course, the ice-cream, frozen yoghurt and sorbet. With flavours ranging from chocolate to rainbow and everything in-between, there is something to suit everyone's palette. If a simple ice-cream in a cone is not enough, choose from an enticing array of sundaes and banana splits. A special treat is the ice cream flavour which appears at Jacaranda Festival time. The colour of Jacaranda flowers, this purple boysenberry based ice-cream keeps you coming back for more. Ice-cream is also available in take-home tubs and you can order an ice-cream for your special event.
The cafe features indoor and outdoor seating and is great for groups, parties and families. Takeaway is available and walk-ins are welcome. i Scream also take table bookings and have a mobile ice-cream cart available for events.
You can find out more about i Scream on their Facebook Page, including latest flavour updates and latest specials. Why not stop for lunch or dinner next time you're in town rather than just continuing on the highway. Enjoy some 50's music, a bite to eat, some local history, and best of all - Ice Cream!
