My mission: To discover the Best Vegan Breakfast in inner-city Melbourne.
If there is one thing I have noticed that all my vegan friends get universally excited about, it is vegan festivals.
I'm sure in many cases it is the sense of community and belonging that makes these friends happy but for me, it is the food. I often feel disappointed and left out at other kinds of festivals when everyone else can peruse the food stalls and choose something cheap, delicious and sometimes exotic. I, on the other hand, can be seen walking towards the kebab stand and choosing a falafel kebab with no yoghurt sauce. Don't get me wrong, I do love my kebabs but sometimes I just want a bit of choice when eating from a festival food stall.
Enter: the I <3 Vegans festival. Held at the Port Philip Eco Centre in the St Kilda Botanical gardens, we are promised vegan food stalls galore as well as an organic fruit and veggie swap, recipes and a raw food cooking demonstration.
It isn't just food either at this vegan festival. Some other things to get excited about are; the free vegan and vintage clothes swap -bring your clothes and swap them for new ones (but remember no leather, fur, silk or wool); free film screenings of The Cove, Earthlings and Forks Over Knives; music; yoga; a fashion show; and various kids activities.
