The fabulous Hyde Park Fair will be on again
The Hyde Park Fair is a Perth icon that has now been running for more than 50 years! This is a not for profit event and it is touted as "the best value family day out of the year," - an expression that I would definitely have to agree with!

This is a fair that is one of the oldest in Perth and one that I go to most years. This year I will also be going as I still find it a fascinating and exciting fair after many years of attendance!

I first went to this fair some 40 years ago (I am giving my age away now!) and always went when we had three small and growing up children. However it is a family event, that is also fantastic if your children have left home, as mine all have long ago!

It is a friendly, real community fair that is run by the Rotary Club of North Perth. This year it falls over the Labour Day long weekend on Sunday 3rd and Monday 4th March 2019.

What can I say about this fabulous event - perhaps merely do not miss it as it is one of our best fairs as is evidenced by the longevity of the event!

The schedule of events is as follows:

SUNDAY, from 10.00 am till 6.00 pm
MARKET STALLS
FOOD
AMUSEMENTS
HIGH FASHION AT HYDE PARK
MAIN STAGE ENTERTAINMENT

From 6.00 pm till 9.00 pm
MAIN STAGE ENTERTAINMENT
FANTASTIC FOOD VENDORS

MONDAY, from 10.00 am till 5.00 pm
MARKET STALLS
FOOD
AMUSEMENTS
HIGH FASHION AT HYDE PARK
MAIN STAGE ENTERTAINMENT

At the time of writing this article, there were a massive 60 vendors already confirmed for the event with still more to come! So whatever your needs, or more importantly, whatever your wants are, you are sure to find heaps to buy and love at this fair!

There are too many vendors to mention in this article so I will pick my top 10 that I will be going to see. This was indeed a difficult thing to do as so many of them look so interesting and I will, of course, be looking at all of the vendors. Many of them are there every year and I am familiar with their goods and mostly I find heaps and heaps of things to buy at this fair - maybe because it is set in such pleasant surroundings in a large park with lakes and ducks etc?

1. CARTEL CONCEPTS
They will be there with their giftware, wall art, candles, home and garden items and lots more new ones.

2. MENORA CHARITY
Menora Charity is Jewish Welfare Agency who collect and sell second-hand goods. I have been to their Sunday morning garage sales and picked up some wonderful designer label clothes, handbags and shoes. They have a huge range of everything and well worth visiting.

3. THE OWL & THE FEATHER
These people are actually new this year, so I do not know them however, I like the looks of their jewellery. It is hand-made Boheme consisting of necklaces and jewellery with vintage style beads.

4. SLOBBERLICIOUS
They are a fun pet outlet where I always manage to find something for my two babies. They have a fabulous range which includes cakes (flavours include fish, chicken, beef, and kangaroo). They have various treats from bone shapes treats, nibbles, snags, chews, bully sticks, pig or beef ears, chicken feet and a wide range of jerky. They also do drinks including doggy beer, cat wine, tea for cats and dogs, and dog nog.

You can imagine this is one day when my dogs are happy I am going out and wait patiently at the door for my return!

5. SAUCY SUE
Last year I bought several bottles of spicy sauces from this mob. Their sauces are made from the freshest ingredients which are sourced locally. I can highly recommend their spicy mango sauce!

6. WENJU GIFTS
They will be returning this year and last year had some great gimmicky items and pot plants. They also had different sized pots for plants and other quirky items.

7. THE SILK MERCHANT
I think this firm is a new one this year but their goods sound very interesting. They are a boutique who have unique silk items which look stunning! Silk is something I cannot resist and especially nowadays, where most of it can be washed in a washing machine.

8. DESERT ROSE & BONSAI GARDENS
I bought several plants here last year - desert roses are my passion and I still have one of them.

My,desert,rose
My own best desert rose in flower!

They also have succulents and Bonsai and I also love succulents as you can see from this link.

9. TRANSPLANT AUSTRALIA
This is dear to my heart as my son died some years after waiting many years for a kidney transplant. The store offers brochures and information on how you can register to donate an organ and tissue donor. This is all about promoting organ donation which is so important.

10. MY MANDALA SHOP
This is a non-profit organisation selling artisan Mandala painting from the Kathmandu Monastery high in the mountains of Nepal.

They also sell woollen shawl and throws and silk and cashmere pashminas. They also have felt products such as hats, bags, purses, slippers, scarves and garlands.

Also, I cannot go past two of my favourites where I always buy and have a whole house full of their expensive but absolutely brilliant, long-wearing products ENJO and Tupperware both of whom will be there this year with this being the first time for Tupperware.

You can check out the complete list of exhibitors at this link and also check out their Facebook page as you will be able to see more on some of the vendors there.

ENTERTAINMENT
It is always an added bonus when you have heaps of live music, entertainment and activities for all ages. Here you will find:

Live entertainment
International and local food markets
Sideshow rides
Arts and crafts
Kid's activities
Cultural displays
Much, much more

The line up of artists performing is going to be huge, and at the time of writing has not yet been published. If you want to find out exactly who will be there, make sure you check out their website around about the beginning of February 2019.

The food vans at this fair are also phenomenal with a huge choice of good quality international food and these have also not yet been announced.

Whatever you do, put the 3rd and 4th March in your calendar or phone diary, and do not miss this fair!
