Get into the hustle & bustle of things with a cup of coffee
Not one to shy away from the 'coffee bean lover' status, I am always on the look out for upcoming coffee joints that find a home in the quirkiest parts of the city.
While there are places around the CBD that have become some of my favourite spots to get my daily caffeine fix, I tend to present with a welcoming attitude towards fresh and new cafes - and for good reason!
Hustle Coffee Co. (Hustle) is the latest cafe to create all the buzz on a busy Monday morning! Located just minutes from Light Square at the corner of Waymouth Street, this cafe is a super quaint but super cute spot to catch up with a friend or to gain some solo inspiration to activate 'game face' and take on another week of work, play, and study. Hustle specialises in offering caffeine-induced drinks that incorporate blends from Brazil, Peru, and Nicaragua.
The cafe is the epitome of 'blink and you'll miss it', given its size and location. But fret not, because the customer service will make the hunt worth your while! The staff members there are inviting and are eager to make your first trip to Hustle one of many, many more. If you're into minimalistic décor, you're going to love the fine, little details such as the overhanging bulbs, and the black-and-white textures in the colour scheme of the cafe.
What started off as a plan 6 months ago has now become a reality, with owners Steve and Pete finding a space where they can share their love for all-things-coffee with the rest of Adelaide. It's amazing how they have succeeded in transforming the space from a dark side brothel to an open and bright-looking cafe.
With lots of natural lighting, comfortable and intimate seating, and some delicious options of food and drink to choose from, Hustle is all about getting social and satisfying that hungry belly while you're at it.
While Hustle may have a select few options of meals, their food is bound to make your mouth water. There are colourful options of salads, along with bagels, granola cups, and pastries whose aromatic scent can fill up the cafe with happiness! With the number of healthy and scrumptious options such as these, you won't have to worry about coming into town without breakfast, because these guys will have you sorted!
My friend and I opted for bagels - we had the blueberry bagel and the salmon and fennel bagel. The sweetness from the blueberries and cream mixed well with the plain flavour from the bagel. The salmon bagel was a brilliant savoury dish, with chives, cream cheese, and fennel. Having been to the US and fallen in love with bagels, Hustle has easily become my new spot to enjoy having some American goodness with an Australian twist.
I tried the hot chocolate here and was pleasantly surprised with its taste. It was subtle in its sweetness, but it had a unique taste unlike the other hot chocolates I've had around town. The milk was at the perfect temperature and the marshmallows on the side were a great add-on to a fantastic hot drink on a particularly chilly day.
Overall, Hustle may have only been around for less than 24 hours, but by the looks of how busy it got while we were there goes to show that it has the potential to become one of the hottest places in the city to get your caffeine and brekkie/brunch/lunch fix.
What's even better is that Hustle is giving all of their customers 25% off coffee purchases if you check-in on Facebook or post a photo on Instagram. A pretty sweet deal, if you ask me.
The cafe is open 7 days a week, from 7am-3pm. Everyone who works there is friendly and hospitable, so even if you're just browsing, feel free to have a chat and find out more about the story behind Hustle Coffee Co.
