The Hunter Valley Gardens, situated in the heart of the Hunter Valley, are beautiful at the best of times. Now, in the spirit of Christmas, the Gardens are filled with over one million Christmas lights. It is definitely something worth seeing this holiday season.
The Christmas Lights Spectacular promises all things Christmas with enough lights to fill a football field, and various displays including a giant nativity scene and scenes from the North Pole. There is also Christmas food and beverages for sale and entertainment including carollers. Santa Claus will be making nightly appearances and there will be a professional photographer onsite for any children who want their photo taken with Santa.
The lights displays begins each night at 7.30pm from now until the 5th of January. The gates open at 6.30pm with food stalls and entertainment.
Tickets are $17.50 for adults, $10.00 for children (kids under 3 get in free) and $50.00 for a family (2 adults and 2 children). Tickets can be purchased online but no less than 48 hours prior to the day you wish to go. Otherwise you can buy your tickets at the gates when you arrive.
The Hunter Valley is about two hours drive from Sydney meaning that it is plausible to go and return in the same evening. Why not make a night of it and stop in for dinner at somewhere like Harrigan's Irish Pub?
Or you could go in early and make a day of it, stopping in at various locations across the Hunter Valley for wine, cheese and chocolate tasting. If you go in early, you could always visit the Gardens during the day (which is also highly recommended). Visitors who choose to do so can pay just an extra $10.00 to see the Christmas Lights Spectacular in the evening.
You could also make a whole weekend of it, staying overnight in one of the charming accommodation options the Hunter Valley has to offer.
Whichever way you choose to go, visiting the Hunter Valley Gardens for their Christmas Lights Spectacular will be worth the drive.
