This August, the City of Ryde is hosting Hungry for Art, an arts and culture festival which celebrates the region's best artists.

Running for three weeks, from Wednesday 14th August, this eclectic event will showcase a range of traditional arts through exhibitions, workshops and community events; some of the festival program highlights include;

Hungry for Art Festival Launch event on Wednesday 14th August; running from 6pm to 8pm - the public will be invited to the opening of the See Street Gallery exhibition, Animalised and will be able to meet local artists and pick up a copy of the full program.

The Animalised Exhibition will then be open to the public from Thursday 15th August until Saturday 7th September from 11am to 4pm. The theme of this exhibition is animal motifs in contemporary Australian Art - artists participating in this exhibition include Tanmaya Bingham, Alison Clouston & Boyd, Todd Fuller, James Guppy, Stephen Hall, Madeleine Hayes, Rew Hanks, Claude Jones, Mylyn Nguyen, Natalie Ryan, Janet Parker Smith, Petra Svoboda and Jacek Wankowski.

Match Box Projects (Art PopUp at Eden Gardens Sat 17 Aug & Top Ryde City Sat 24 & Thurs 29 Aug)

Art PopUp is a series of cutting edge community arts events which will feature interactive events, workshops, exhibitions and installations. There will three pop-up events, in two locations; Eden Gardens on 17th August and Top Ryde City on 24th August and again at Top Ryde City on 29th August. Some of the events to look forward to include; People Make Places Sydney: Ryde with Match Box Projects; the interactive light sculpture Morphic Mirror - in La Strada; Todd Fuller 'sculpting and drawing live'; the Cartoons Galore! exhibition and much, much more. DrawFest and Open Day @ Sydney Gallery School on Saturday 31st August from 10am to 5pm; this free event will feature a grand-scale drawing event, as well as workshops in painting, sculpture and printmaking. There will also be food, exhibitions, and art talks on the day - view the full event program here.

ArtTrail through the City of Ryde on Sunday 1st September; a great event which allows the public to visit the studios of Garry Foye, Mitsuo and Chris Shoji, Peter Porteous, Wendy Hope, Shirley Peters, Lyndall Graham, Mark Fallone, John Woodland, Marg Somerville and Therese McKenzie, Susan Lee and Jennifer Chang.
