Writing for pleasure to showcase the best Australia has on offer.
Hummingbird House opens its doors for public tours
The Brisbane Open House is an annual event held in Brisbane and surrounding suburbs to showcase the city's buildings to the public. These buildings include galleries, museums, places of worship, bridges, well-known buildings not usually open to the public and historical landmarks. The Brisbane event is mostly held in the first week of October and is well supported by the community.
As part of this event, Hummingbird House is also opening its doors for tours. As well, there will be a jumping castle, soft play equipment, a baby animal farm, face painting and coffee van for families to have a break and meet other visitors on the day.
Hummingbird House is the only children's hospice in Queensland and one of three in the entire nation. The House is a joint initiative of Hummingbird House Foundation and the Wesley Mission Queensland. They provide a short break stay and family support services for children with life-limiting conditions at the end of life and their families.
Open from 10.00am to 3.00pm on Saturday 12th October 2019, Hummingbird House is situated at 60 Curwen Terrace, Chermside. Entry is free and there will be Hummingbird House merchandise for sale and visits from special guests.
