Wine lovers are invited to embark on a 4 week Introductory Wine Appreciation Course with The Humble Tumbler.Hosted by Author, Wine Producer and Wine Educator Clare Burder, this interactive course runs one evening a week (from 6pm – 8.30pm) for four weeks. The course has been designed specifically to cater to people who love drinking wine and want to develop their knowledge in an engaging and social atmosphere.

Under Clare's guidance, you'll learn about the main grape varieties & regions in Australia (plus some lesser known ones too), how wine is made, how to judge quality, how to read labels, how to drink wine and how to make sense of the way the wine industry communicates with its consumers. Each bracket/flight is matched with cheese or charcuterie so you'll also get to explore the concepts behind food and wine matching.

The wine appreciation course is broken up into four sessions, each session includes 7-9 wines and matched cheese & charcuterie with sourdough bread. WEEK ONE covers an introduction to vineyards, regions, grape varieties and wine making. Tastings include riesling and sauvignon blanc and an introduction of the three main concepts behind food and wine matching.WEEK TWO covers white wine and white winemaking in detail. Tastings include pinot grigio, pinot gris, chardonnay plus a line up of alternative whites.

WEEK THREE introduces red wine and red winemaking in detail, including the use of oak, ageing wine, glassware, decanting & serving.Tastings include premium pinot noir, shiraz & cabernet sauvignon. WEEK FOUR continues with the reds – presenting a line up of alternative red varieties in Australia, followed by sparkling wine – learning about how it's made, the main styles and how to distinguish quality.
The total cost for all four sessions is $300 and places are limited. If you are unable to attend one session, you may send someone else in your place and still attend the following session. The Humbler Tumbler team can also cater for vegetarians, coeliacs & other intolerances, but unfortunately not vegans as most of the wines used are fined with egg or fish products. To reserve your place, please click here and follow the prompts.
The Humbler Tumbler also offers courses and classes on beer, whiskey, spirits and sake appreciation. For more information, please visit the official website and 'like' the Facebook profile .
