It was a pleasure to meet Mischa.

This 900 metre road runs between Exeter and Holloway Roads. It is straight but undulating. Footpaths on each side make pedestrian navigation easy to enjoy the floral and avian experiences.

It is a well-established area with very deep building blocks. Many have been developed into multi units, ranging from two unit to ten. The properties that haven't been developed have very established gardens.

Camellias were popular in these gardens as are banksia and grevilleas.

Lots of birds were seen. Crows often announce their presence by their loud raucous calls. Fortunately, photo wise, they prefer to perch on overhead powerlines.

Another bird species that usually announce their presence in a very vocal manner is the sulphur crested cockatoo – except when feeding. I spied three white blobs on a distant front lawn which manifested into feeding cockatoos.

Nearby something made me look up while passing under a street tree and my looking was rewarded by another cocky silently sitting on a branch.

Clivia and aloe plants added a welcome spot of colour to many gardens.

Many walkers were out, with and without dogs.

One walker introduced me to Mischa, her King Charles Cavalier Spaniel. With a little encouragement from her owner, Mischa posed for a couple of photos. Street walks have increased my knowledge of dog breeds.

Older areas with large gardens are often home to garden ornaments. A wishing well that has seen better days was one as well as a windmill in the same category.

A parrot on a rusty tricycle stood out in one garden whose resident had what I called a rockery full of little critters.

Noisy miners were around in trees and on power lines. As was a magpie looking for food.

Older areas mean picket fences and lychgates, always a pleasure to see and admire, particularly if they are in front of older houses.

Front fences often allow escapees and one plant seemed to revel in its newly found freedom by starting to grow.

Many well-established gardens were home to long ago planted palm trees which are slow growing and add to the almost nostalgic feel to this street.

Some daffodils and a lily added some extra colour to Humber Road, as did some colourful daisies.

It's a great walk, combining birds and flora.
