Sasha was born a vampire, but feels too much compassion for humans to kill them for food. When her parents cut off her supply of bags of blood she is forced to come up with a solution or starve. One night she meets a suicidal teenager named Paul, who seems to be the answer to her prayers.

Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person (2023) is a French Canadian horror comedy directed by Ariane Louis-Seize. It's an odd, quirky film, which isn't at all scary but is darkly funny.

I watched this movie because of the attention-grabbing title, and I was not disappointed. There is nothing terribly original about it, but it is charming and enjoyable to watch. Sara Montpetit is well cast as the pale, vulnerable-seeming Sasha. Félix-Antoine Bénard as Paul made me laugh with his constant wide-eyed bewilderment.

Some of the vampires in this movie are born that way, like Sasha (and like the ones in the much more grim The Hamiltons ), but humans can apparently also be turned into vampires through being bitten. I have some questions about how it all works, which the movie didn't answer, but I'm probably overthinking it.
