Hands up how many of you have computer wallpaper of a tropical destination? Personally, I think it's just depressing, but I know a large amount of people do this so that mid arvo, they can stare at this image and pretend they are there.
This is weird to me. I'd rather actually be there. Or at least feel like I am there.
So, imagine feeling like you are on a tropical holiday, every Wednesday to Saturday night.
If you don't head to Hula Bula for the atmosphere, then chances are you are there for the cocktails. Just one sip, and you are taken away to a place where the sand crunches under your feet, and all the seagulls seem to know your name.
A favourite of mine is the "Mai-Tai" meaning "The Best" in Tahitian. This cocktail is rum based, and comes with a flower lei, making you feel even more away from home.
Me enjoying a Hula Bula Bar cocktail
You'll really get lost once sipping on your chosen cocktail, and the music begins to play. At Hula Bula Bar, you'll only hear a blend of rare and groovy music from the 50's 60's and 70's. I heard a couple of songs from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack, so I was in my prime.
You can put this baby in the corner at Hula Bula any day.
Hula Bula Bar is open Wednesday and Thursday 4pm-12am, Friday 4pm-1am, and Saturday 6pm-1am.
