Casual Dining in Ashgrove
Hub Cafe Kitchen corner cafe
Hub Café Kitchen is a casual café in Ashgrove serving pastas, wood-fired pizzas and bistro mains, dished up in a dynamic setting with funky decor. This café, resting on a corner site is located in the Ashgrove shopping precinct just 5km west of the CBD. I stopped by on a Sunday morning to catch up for a coffee with a friend. It had been on our "must go there" list and finally we made it.
Staying hydrated on a hot day
Hub serves Botanica 100% organic, fair trade coffee and I chose a latte which was delicious and arrived promptly. Guests can choose from 3 seating areas: 2 inside and outdoors on the L-shaped kerbside. The outdoor seating overlooks Stewart Place Memorial Park, a green space which is a local site for the annual ANZAC Day service. Yellow, brown and white are the dominant colours of the bright, inviting décor.
What's on the Menu? Hub is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. While we didn't have enough time to stay for lunch, viewing the menu we found that the menu is fulsome. Two standout breakfast items were THE GRAND SLAM featuring 2 poached eggs, lean bacon, lamb sausage, pork belly, mushrooms, avocado, blistered tomato, house fetta croquette, tomato relish, sourdough toast ($19.90) and THE TASSIE — 2 poached eggs smoked salmon, avocado, halloumi, blistered tomato; house fetta croquette, tomato relish, sourdough toast ($18.90).

The online menu shows that Hub has an extensive lunch burger menu and panini selection along with fresh salads, nibbles, poutine fries, pizzas, pasta, main meals. Dinner offers a wide selection of choices. starter-share-entrées, gourmet pizzas, premium meats, seafood dinners, Mediterranean salads, combo meals and a vast selection of pastas.
What else? For those needing to do a spot of work or catch up on their social media, Hub conveniently offers free wifi. It is also available for functions and can cater to up to 100 guests.
