The Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland is returning with an exciting and full programme in 2019 for its members and the public at large.

The year kicks off with the first lecture which is entitled :
"Wildlife rehabilitation and the cost to society: the good, the bad and the ugly".

What happens when, as in my case, a friendly python decided to curl up on our outdoor furniture outside.

How do you do this? Do you freak out and call a snake catcher? Do you let is slither off and back into your garden? Do you feed it a mouse or two? Do you kill it and tell no one as it is against the law? These are all choices we have when we come across wildlife in our urban settings and it is interesting to see what the experts can tell us about this subject.

The Speaker is Chantelle Derez, Brisbane Python Project University of Queensland.

Find out about the financial, human and environmental costs of wildlife rehabilitation. Chantelle, a wildlife carer and scientist, is investigating the survival of translocated pythons and their effect on the resident population to help understand how human involvement affects this species survival.

This lecture will take place on Tuesday the 26th of February 2019 and it is free for all to attend. There is no need to book and you are welcome to come along.
