Howells Knob Lookout is located off Reesville Rd (just outside of Maleny) which traverses along lovely farmland. The road to the lookout- Howells Knob Lookout Rd is sealed, and a short, steep ascent flanked by bushy native trees.
At the top you'll find yourself gazing down upon wide open country-side vistas; mountains, greenery, trees, pastures, and rolling hills. This view also encompasses the iconic and mysterious Glass House Mountains showcasing the beauty of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.
Being peacefully quiet and slightly secluded it offers a pleasant escape, space and place to pause and enjoy nature. It is a well-kept secret.
A picnic table is provided but there are no toilet facilities or rubbish bins. The surrounding lawns are well maintained. I suggest throwing a rug down to picnic or watch the sunrise, sunset or moon and stargaze. It's a good spot for romantic sunset dates and taking photos. Drivers should be mindful of wildlife along Reesville Rd and the area approaching the lookout.
