Don't be a loser anymore
Everyone has a weird hobby, right? I have numerous weird hobbies, but my favourite weird hobby is entering competitions. The thrill of coming up with a 25 words or less entry, is my drug and winning, is my high.
I found when I first started, I didn't know much about how to actually win a competition and couldn't find too many useful tips online, unless you pay to join forums or websites.
I want to share with you some tips that have helped me win and enjoy my time entering as well. Also for more inspiration head to my blog, Brig Competition Quest, it follows my comping journey.

The morning after entering my first few competitions, I was all, waiting near my letter box and phone, telling mum I had won us this holiday and that Xbox. Reality check, I didn't win until 2 months later and even then, that's still classified a "new comper". People usually give up after the second or third week of comping, because they aren't seeing results, but you have to be patient. A lot of competitions have a long running course and even if there closing date is near, it doesn't always mean that's the draw date.
Don't quit your day job
Some people do this for a living, that's cool if you are financially secure, but it's a very risky and un-advised move if you are not. This should just be a source of entertainment and thrill.
Enter Skill competitions
Not as many people enter skill competitions, like "25 words or less" because this takes more time. So if less people are entering, this means more chances for you! A great piece of advice, when entering these types of competitions, they judge by creativeness. I always try and be a bit quirky or make up a rhyme; this makes your entry stand out more.
Enter smaller competitions too!
We all want to win a new car or a romantic getaway, so that's why these competitions get thousands of entries. Try your hand at smaller competitions too, like a skin care pack or movie tickets, as they don't get as many entries and you are more likely to win.
Have fun with it
Don't let this start feeling like a chore. If your heart isn't in it, then you won't be entering to your full potential.
Join a Club
Most RSL, Bowls Club or Surf Clubs have weekly prizes and raffles. They are a great way to get out and met new people, have a feed and be in the draw to win.
Win Free Stuff is a great competition website. It gets updated daily with loads of comps and is easy use. It is catered to people wanting to quickly gain access to lots of free competitions.
