How to Win Competitions & Free Stuff

I just wasted 20 minutes that I will never get back in the interest of writing this article… and winning competitions.
It all started when I was watching a morning show on TV and two women were interviewed about winning competitions.
Unfortunately I only heard the part where one said she had won over a million dollars of prizes. Try as I might I have not been able to Google her and therefore all the hints she had just given hopefuls like me.
I've found out that there are sites devoted to winning competitions and an Australian Competitions Newsletter. They list hundreds of categories. For e.g., pick what you'd like to win… car, trip, iPad, jewellery, shoes, bike, boat, make up, mobile phone, furniture etc. There are also different types of competitions. To name a few: free on-line, instant, 25 words or less, on-line paid surveys, games, photo comps and product competitions.
Believe it or not you can set up an automatic competition entry by paying for the service. Sounds worse than on-line dating. You never know what if are going to get what you dreamed of or end up with something useless.
My research has been time consuming, ruthless and pretty fruitless so far but I am not giving up hope. I am wanting to share the love around so this is what I have found out so far.
Always read the terms and conditions and check the criteria to see if you are eligible first. No use entering a competition to win a skiing weekend for swinging singles. unless you are a swinging single.
Enter lots of different competitions, not the same one many times. To increase your chances the best are those that offer a number of prizes or a smaller number of people enter. Choose the ones you like first.
Follow your favourites on Facebook. For example if you love going to the movies, follow Hoyts. They often have freebies that are only offered through their sites.
Team up with a trustworthy friend. Lots of prizes are for two. Make a pinky promise that any prizes will be shared.
Apparently you can get Web Form Filling software that speeds up the process of filling in competition forms.
Start a separate email for competitions. Entering comps often seems to involve marketing and you are sure to get lots of follow up junkmail. In my experience it's best to be selective in what you say you are prepared to find out about or willing to receive free. Consider if a free health shake is worth death by 1000 emails later. Some of these emails are harder to stop than persistent exes.
I should make a special mention of WeekendNotes. They offer lots of freebies by way of invitation. I have been successful in winning a few nights out.
Don't give up your day job until you have won a house, investment property, a live in maid, new car and a fat retirement fund.
It's always fun to win so good luck, time to do a bit more homework. If you are successful remember who got you started and be open-hearted!
