After work, I loved nothing than going to a good dance class or hitting the gym. With the recent self-isolation rules, it's not surprising that gyms and dance schools have closed their doors, and so they should. Although I was stuck with what I should do to stay active when I couldn't leave the house. So here are some of the ways that you can stay during the lockdown:
Luckily for me, many dance schools in Canberra have gone online! Dance Central in Woden is one of my favourite dance schools that have gone online, and they offer a range of great classes including Hip Hop, Heels and Ballet. Another favourite Subsdance, which has a great culture has also gone online and is offering a variety of classes including Brazilian Funk, Afro beats, Samba, and Caburlesque amongst others. 6th Position has also joined in with online classes, and they offer ballet, lyrical. contemporary and tap amongst other styles.
Join an exercise class
If dance isn't your thing there are plenty of online exercises as well. My favourite exercise class at the moment is the pilates offered by Lucas Studios, Mary is an excellent teacher and the classes are a great workout. Another favourite is the free Monday night Swingtrain classes offered by Cathy from SwingTrain Canberra, which is a mix between swing dance and cardio. The girls from Keep It Cleaner are also running free bi-weekly exercise classes in their virtual gym.
Join a Yoga class
If you're stilling wanting to stay active but an exercise class or dance class is not your scene then maybe give yoga a go. The lovely Jo from Joga Yoga is running free bend and bevvie classes online each Friday from 4pm.
